Car hiring

We are mainly focused on the area that covers the gulf of Castellammare (North west Sicily): from Terrasini to Scopello. It is 35 mins by car far from Palermo. The A29 motorway connects Palermo to Trapani/Mazara del Vallo and 60 km off Palermo there is Castellammare del Golfo's gate; thus, meaning you could  easily get to the motorway, if you should be in the area.
First I would suggest you to be based in a place and then have 1 day trip/excursion to places.
I would recommend you to hire a car because public transport standards are not so high like they are in Northern and Central Europe; you could rent a car through the well known car hiring companies such as Hertz, Maggiore and Avis and pick it up at Palermo's airport "Falcone and Borsellino" or at Trapani Birgi's airport "Vincenzo Florio"; and you could do this easily via their web sites(secure sites).
As a valid alternative you could rent a car through a local agent and collect it straight at the rented accommodation by saving any stress due to late arrival or to problems with the language; e.g price for an economic class car(like a FIAT PUNTO with no air conditioned) could be 25 euros per day. By renting a car, it would be easier to get to the most interesting places around the area we are based on(mostly in the western part of Sicily):
* Scopello
* Segesta(archeological site - Greek temple and theatre) - 1/2 day trip
* Selinunte(archeological site - Greek temples) - 1/2 day trip
* Erice(medieval village on a top of a mountain overlooking the whole Trapani's
* area) - 1/2 day trip
* Castellammare del Golfo - 1/2 day trip
* The natural reserve of the Zingaro - 1/2 day trip
* S.Vito Lo Capo(where to eat a delicious cous cous!!!) - 1/2 day trip
* Trapani/Mothia and its famous "saline"(salt planes) - 1/2 day trip
* Agrigento - 1 day trip
* ....and Palermo/Monreale(1 day trip) is far only 35 mins by car.
